The Summer Issue of Quiltposium is ON-LINE NOW!

You know each and every time I open www.Quiltposium.com I am humbled to be along side the most creative and gifted quilters and needle artists from around the world, even though I'm not a quilter!!
I do love fabric, thats true, I do love a needle and thread, thats true, I love color, check.....then why don't I quilt?
One thing is for sure that when I'm ready to take on quilting (and I will one day), I'll already have a ton of great tutorials, inspiration and people to connect with since I'm a subscriber and contributor to Quiltposium!!
This is a free on-line quilt magazine and the brain child of Jim West, author, writer, travel guru and my friend. I am constantly amazed by the color of this publication, Jim has a keen eye for capturing color, unique places and amazing fabric and fabric techniques ever put together in a single magazine!! Bravo Jim!

Now you know I just hate to sit on things, especially when it comes to sharing something I've made. Well wait NO longer......check out my latest article in www.Quiltposium.com.
I can see by my surroundings in this magazine that I need to bring my A game for all future submissions. I truely feel proud of my work, but I know I will learn so much more from reading the articles and techniques that the other artists have submitted. I can't wait to get started.......I have my reading all picked out for this weekend, DO YOU?

Fun Friday - Resin Floral Design

I make so much stuff with Resin each day that I can't simply wait to post it all on my DT date, so I've decided to start a regular blog post called Fun Fridays. A place where I can post whatever I choose from the week of creations.
This weeks piece has been brought to you by www.alumilite.com

I make alot of random resin pieces with no purpose for them in mind when I'm making them.

The following piece was actually three separate pieces glued together using 3D Crystal Laquer. I colored the flowers with copic markers, the background with alcohol ink and the bird with TS Mixers. The entire piece was clear finished with lacquer. From now on however, I've decided to use ONLY the TS Mixers on my resin pieces as they dry quick, leave a beautiful shimmer and are mixable in so many colors.

Just some of my weekend finds!

You know my love for crafting is only enhanced by my love for flea markets and garage sales.
As I had some time to take my son camping last weekend, I was also able to squeeze in a little treasure hunting. I promised I would post some of the goodies I found......here are some of the pieces I bought, was given or negotiated!! (I know so many of the vendors and dealers here, that I can often get something for a song, simply because of my charm.....ya right. LOL)

This case was full of craft supplies - total cost $5.00
free skull and it lights up
 aaahhh, my love for Britto
And resin bracelets from yester year
a beautiful dresser mirror, again resin, so delicate

beaded lace doilies - $3.00 four large pieces
One hotdog maker - its brand new - $15.00 and we've used it steady! LOVE IT!
What isn't pictured here is the Lionel Train clock that I bought for my son and an antique wind up train. I couldn't pry them out of my sons hands long enough to take a photo of them.

Whose going garage sailing with me next weekend?? I know ALL the best spots!!

Its ALL about Storage in this House!!

Do any of you remember the garage sale I went to last weekend? And do you remember this desk that was part of the haul??

Well I didn't think that this was very pretty, it had a weird top on it and although it was in great shape and really clean, its still just pressboard and not so pretty. Well thats not the case anymore. I just put the new handles on my desk and I'm ready to reveal this desks transformation.

Before I do that though - total cost for this redo, including the desk..........$3.00

what do you think of that?? I"m pretty proud of myself, really, I painted it, found the top at the re-store and let hubby put it together for me. LOL

I'm currently redoing my whole home - I have the plan and the color schemes for each room picked out. We will need new furniture, but now that we know exactly what we're looking for it should make the find that much easier.

On a Whim Wednesday!

Here's the start of my first weekly Wednesday post!
Its important to me to start sharing what I make more often because so much of what I make has not been shared in the past, for a number of reasons. But with a schedule each week now in place, I feel that I should have no problem updating you with my musings regularly. Aren't you lucky, LOL!

this weeks post is brought to you by my busy little hands - yup you guessed it "Crochet"

The item below was inspired by pinterest and the following link

Here is my take on this cute little birdie. I have a plan to make three of them to put on the outside of a fall wrap/poncho that I'm making for myself. Pretty huh?

Make Each Month Sweeter!

Pinterest Inspiration

Original Design by - http://www.anazard.blogspot.ca/

I love this ladies work and blog so much, I'm find myself there often and I'm sure you'll understand why once you visit her site for yourself.
However Ana makes her living by creating and the fact that she shares her work with us is nothing short of AMAZING!

She did share the pattern to make these fun jar cozies and here is my version of them. I hope I made Ana proud. I have decided to give my sons teacher one of these jars for each month of the year, using yarn and candy appropriate to each month. A candy jar of the month club!! giggle
January
 October
 May - Mothers Day!

Another project that Ana shared on her blog that I loved was her crochet tag trims. Here's my version of them.

I hope you have been inspired by Ana's work and will leave her some love on her blog.

My Pinterest Love for Crochet!

Many of you follow me on pinterst, so it should come as NO surprise at all that I love to crochet. Now I've only really just begun my crochetting journey, but I've been so inspired by the images that I see on pinterst that I have just had to try and make some of these beautiful creations myself.

First up is a delightful Crown that I found here, now I didn't follow this pattern, but the idea came from this pinterst post link.

Of course I think bobwilson123  or  http://claresaddictedtoyarn.blogspot.ca/ did a great job on her crown and when I get a little more time I'll create one or two for the dress-up box, but for now, my little crown will grace this dollies head. I can't wait to see my little ladies expression when she sees her dolly tomorrow morning.

GOT RESIN?

It would seem that resin has been in use for a very long time, as to its origins or actual makers of the product I'm at a loss. But what I do know for sure is this. My grandfather used it in some of his projects. And yesterday I found this vintage hanging lamp that has been crafted from resin and rocks. YES ROCKS - I could hardly believe my eyes when I noticed that each resin piece was inset with a rock of some sort. Well you can only imagine the weight of this item. Needless to say there were NO takers at the garage sale for this item. The best part was that it even came with a backup set of resin pieces in case one of your lamp pieces fell out. LOL. I marvel at the weight, the time, the cost and the thought process that went into this. I'm thinking it was a very cold winter here in Saskatchewan when this piece was created. Thats all I'm saying. Have a look for yourself. Resin in all its glory!

Artists Protect Work - APW

To find out more about how you can protect your intellectual property head on over to my facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/ArtistsProtectWork?ref=hl

This is only the beginning, but I plan on taking this onto a global stage. I'm looking forward to sharing the meaning of copyrights and how you can protect yourself, your work, your profits. Watch for upcoming guest speakers from every artistic medium and how they deal with their ownership issues. I'm hoping we can find solutions and form some sort of decorum when it comes to posting and sharing our work on the internet. This IS NOT my problem alone. However, I do feel that someone needs to address this issue before it gets completely out of control. So if you want to see your work and future generations of art, no matter what the medium is, become part of the solution today!!

Its ONLY when we have one voice that we can truely be heard. Together we will stand as ARTISTS!

Become and member of the facebook page above and post this image on your blog letting people know that your are serious as an artist and that the copying of your work will have consequences.

One Woman's Move is Another Woman's Projects for the Winter!

Cindy - My Neighbour!

We've been neighbours for over14 yrs, she lives just a few homes down the street from me. Cindy is an artist and is about to embark on getting her Masters in Fine Arts. She is very creative and was the first person to teach me all about ATC's when they weren't even on the map yet. She's been a good neighbour and she will be missed (she'll be back in two years). Now of course I only wish I'd taken the time to get to know her better on a personal level. I will change that NOW!
So today I found out she was having a garage sale, getting rid of a life-time of the unwanted and letting go of the past. As soon as I found out, I RAN.....over as quickly as I could, as I knew Cindy's tastes in crafting and I knew she would have at least one goody for me. Little did I know that I would make four trips back and forth from her house to mine today, Sweat, grunt.....as you will see it was worth the effort and I'd like to say THANKYOU to Cindy for giving me SO much for SO little. I know she was happy to get rid of it, but I'm sure we all feel a little sense of loss at some of our treasures departing our lives. So I promised Cindy she could come here to this blog or to my home to see some of her goodies anytime. And I mean anytime. This is one inspiring person and an even more inspiring collection of goodies I received today to create with. I can't wait to get started.

I got ALL of this for $20.00

Are you sitting down??? I still have four more boxes to unpack!!
Again Thanks to Cindy and Meagan for being fearless in their purge!!
